John is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. He has more than 11 years of experience in the patent law field both in private practice and as an Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He focuses his practice on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the mechanical and electromechanical arts, and has counseled clients in various patent issues including prior art search, design-around strategy, preparation of validity and freedom to operate opinions, reexamination requests, cease-and-desist letters, and litigation support. Leveraging his experience from the USPTO, John has particular expertise working cooperatively with patent examiners throughout the application process and handling patent applications in crowded technologies.
