Marine is an associate in the Global Commercial Disputes Group, advising individuals, corporations, and states in major investment treaty and international commercial arbitrations. Marine’s experience includes cases brought in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa across a variety of sectors, including energy, mining, financial services, aviation, construction, and textile. She is dual-qualified in Paris and New York.
Marine has experience of acting on arbitration cases for both the claimant and the respondent under UNCITRAL, ICC, LCIA, and ICSID rules, particularly on disputes arising out of bilateral investment treaties. She has appeared as counsel in a multitude of hearings.
Aside from her international arbitration work, Marine has also advised major companies in the pharmaceuticals and oil and gas sectors in relation to white collar matters, including corruption and bribery issues, as part of internal or government investigations or to provide legal advice in anticipation of a claim.
Marine is also involved in pro bono opportunities at Reed Smith, including working with Liberty, one of the UK’s leading human rights and civil liberties organisations; the International Justice Mission to support its work to reduce domestic violence in Uganda; and Lawyers Without Borders to raise awareness on the subject of human trafficking, child labour, and forced labour in Tanzania and Thailand. In the early stages of her career, Marine also worked for a non-profit organisation providing immigration legal services to low-income individuals in the Latino community, immigrants, and survivors of violent crimes in the United States, including asylum, human trafficking, domestic violence, and other gender-related crimes.
Whether in arbitration, white collar, or pro bono matters, Marine works in English, Spanish, and French. She has had significant exposure to cases and projects in Latin America and the Middle East.
Marine regularly attends conferences and seminars in the field of public international law and has published several articles relating to investment treaty arbitration, with a particular focus on energy and Latin American disputes.
