Amanda Hamilton is a staff attorney based in San Francisco. She primarily works with the Financial Industry Group, and broadly supports the Litigation and Business & Finance Departments across the firm. In addition to litigation, Amanda also works on transactional matters for health care providers and life science companies and maintains an active pro bono caseload.
In her litigation practice, Amanda represents many of the nation’s largest financial institutions and loan servicers defending lenders, investors, and financial services providers against claims involving consumer lending and business practices in federal and state courts, with a focus on actions brought under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA); the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA); the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA); and the California Homeowner Bill of Rights (HBOR). Amanda also represents Fortune 500 companies in lawsuits regarding compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Amanda’s transactional experience at the firm includes drafting and reviewing clinical trial agreements for pharmaceutical clients, and conducting due diligence review for Corporate mergers and acquisitions to support the Life Sciences Health Industry Group.
Prior to joining Reed Smith, Amanda was a trial attorney representing clients in a broad range of civil litigation matters, including personal injury, employment discrimination, workers' compensation, probate , and breach of contract . She also worked in-house at a health care tech company counseling on regulatory issues affecting health care providers such scope of practice matters, Medicare billing and reimbursement issues, HIPAA, the Anti-Kickback Statute, and Stark Laws, and telemedicine laws.
Outside the office, Amanda volunteers as a pro bono attorney on asylum cases, serves on the Board of the Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom (BALIF) and serves as Co-Chair of the Asian American Bar Association’s LGBTQ Committee.
