Raymond is a commercial litigator whose practice focuses on all aspects of consumer protection defense, with an emphasis on class action defense. He regularly represents clients in class actions brought under federal and state statutes, including the federal EFTA, FCRA, FDCPA, RESPA, TCPA, and TILA, and the California Auto-Sales Finance Act, CLRA, UCL, FAL, Home Owners Bill of Rights, and Song-Beverly Act, and common law theories, including contract and tort-based claims. In class action litigation, Raymond takes an aggressive yet balanced approach. Early in the case, he seeks to narrow the scope of the claims and issues through sensible motion practice and/or stipulations with the opposing side.  As the case progresses, Raymond strategically navigates through discovery and challenges the merits and certifiableness of the class claims at every stage of the case.  Raymond’s goal is to obtain a dismissal early and efficiently, so that his clients do not become a target for repetitive class actions.
