Julia is a senior associate in Reed Smith’s Life Sciences Health Industry Group, resident in the firm’s Philadelphia office. She regularly draws upon her experience with an in-house law department at a major pharmaceutical manufacturer when representing life sciences clients in matters spanning from regulatory compliance to controversies.
Julia’s litigation practice focuses primarily on complex product liability litigation, including federal multidistrict litigation (MDL) and consolidated state court proceedings defending drug and device manufacturers. Julia also has substantial experience in complex commercial matters, advising life sciences clients in commercial and contractual litigation. Additionally, Julia has experience in all phases of pre-trial practice, including written and oral discovery, preparation of company fact witnesses and expert witnesses for deposition and trial testimony, and she has drafted a wide range of dispositive and evidentiary motions. Julia also has trial experience in state and federal courts.
In her regulatory practice, Julia provides strategic legal advice on pharmaceutical advertising and promotion activities. Most recently, Julia was seconded to a life sciences client where she provided on a full-time basis ad-hoc legal support to several commercial brands across different franchises and sat on promotional and non-promotional review committees. Julia has maintained this practice since returning from secondment in 2018, and continues to sit on several ad/promo committees for firm clients. Additionally, Julia has experience counseling clients on matters such as contracting with health care providers, fraud and abuse compliance, compliance program development, transparency laws, savings card programs, advocacy and disease-state initiatives, social media campaigns, advisory boards, speaker programs, and the “scientific exchange” of medical information and related literature.
