Jonathan joined Reed Smith in 2014, bringing several years of litigation experience to the firm with him. Since joining Reed Smith he has worked to defend against claims brought under various consumer protection statutes including the FCRA, FDCPA, TCPA, TILA and related state law claims. This experience includes litigation at both the state and federal level, as well as various arbitration forums. Jonathan has offered counsel regarding collection practices and the reduction of potential liability.
Prior to joining Reed Smith, Jonathan drafted and prepared purchase and service contracts for corporate clients, as well as nondisclosure, non-compete, and independent contractor agreements for clients in the areas of real estate development, environmental remediation, banking, construction and sales. In his prior position, Jonathan served as outside counsel to the Suffolk County National Bank, where he provided advice interpreting and explaining statutes and regulations to the bank’s staff relating to powers of attorney, lending practices, and the bank’s responsibilities under the Dodd-Frank Act.
Other areas of Jonathan's experience include comprehensive divorce matters and family law involving equitable distribution of marital assets, orders of protection, child support and custody, and visitation rights. Additionally in the field of matrimonial and family law, Jonathan has utilized and worked with pension, business, and real estate appraisals; forensic therapists; and child protective services.
Jonathan also serves as an adjunct professor of business communications at Robert Morris University.
