John is a staff attorney in the Complex Litigation Department. John represents financial services clients in matters brought under federal consumer protection statutes, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act, Truth in Lending Act, and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and related state statutory and common law claims. In his practice, John acts as lead counsel in a variety of federal and state jurisdictions, and prepares analyses of risk, pleadings, dispositive motions, discovery and research memoranda. John further works to resolve pre-litigation matters, helping his clients avoid the time and expense of litigation. John provides advice regarding general litigation strategy and reduction of liability.
Prior to joining Reed Smith in 2012, John maintained a private practice in which he oversaw state-wide collections actions. John also successfully represented clients in divorce matters worth several million dollars, litigating issues such as equitable distribution of marital assets, orders of protection, child support, custody, and visitation rights. John further provided counsel to clients in real estate matters involving boundary line and title disputes. John began his career as the managing attorney of the Meadville Office of Northwestern Legal Services, where he provided comprehensive family law representation to indigent clients.
John was also recently elected to a seat on the Dormont Borough counsel, and will begin his term in January of 2020.
