Nat represents employers in a broad range of labor and employment matters arising under state and federal laws. Their practice focuses on single-Plaintiff litigation and complex wage and hour class actions, stemming from discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, misclassification, and other wage-and-hour violations.
Aside from traditional labor and employment litigation, Nat also counsels employers on a variety of employment-related issues, including compliance with various state and federal regulations, drafting and revising employee handbooks and policies and employment contracts, employee termination, separation and release agreements, settlement agreements, wrongful termination, and wage and hour practices.
Nat is a dedicated litigator who represents clients in an array of commercial civil disputes across various industries. In addition to their labor and employment practice, Nat also advocates for policyholder clients in maximizing their insurance recoveries. They have aided clients on a variety of coverage issues, including matters concerning COVID-19, general liability insurance, kidnap and ransom insurance, and first-party property and business interruption claims. Nat further advises various corporate and public pension fund clients in disputes concerning benefit eligibility and fiduciary obligations. Specifically, Nat represents pension funds in writ proceedings and is routinely responsible for protecting the fiduciary interests of public pension plans.
Beyond their litigation practice, Nat advocates for LGBTQ+ rights and strives to achieve visibility for transgender, non-binary, and gender queer+ folk in the legal community. During their time at Reed Smith, Nat played an important role in drafting Firm policy regarding declared name and pronoun recognition and implementing the Reed Smith Pronoun Initiative, which encourages both internal and external personnel to think critically about gender constructs as a whole, show allyship and support for transgender, non-binary, gender queer+ folk, and highlight and celebrate gender diversity at Reed Smith.
Prior to working at Reed Smith, Nat served as a law clerk for the Criminal Appeals, Writs, and Trials Division of the Office of the Attorney General and received their mediation certificate to better facilitate clients in achieving an amicable resolution.
