Mona is an associate in the Labor and Employment Group. She counsels clients in all aspects of employment law, including leaves of absence, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, denial of family and medical leaves, wage and hour violations, benefits, separations and best practices. Mona also drafts handbooks, employee policies and procedures and arbitration agreements.
Mona defends employers in single-Plaintiff litigation before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. She also represents employers in complex wage and hour class, collective, and representative actions. She is experienced in litigating and mediating under the California Labor Code, FEHA, FLSA and Tile VII. Mona also has experience in traditional labor relations.
Prior to joining Reed Smith, Mona worked in the labor and employment practice group of two national law firms. Mona also previously represented automotive manufacturers in defense of breach of warranty suits.
In law school, Mona served as a judicial extern to Hon. Richard G. Seeborg in the Northern District of California. She further served as co-chair of Hastings’ nationally ranked Moot Court team where she participated in national competitions as advocate and student coach. Mona received several awards for her oral and written advocacy, including Best Brief, Best Oralist and finalist. Mona also served as a teaching assistant to Moot Court, Appellate Advocacy and Legal Writing and Research classes.
