Eddy is a Partner of the Commercial Litigation Department in our Hong Kong office. His current work focuses on commercial and financial litigation, and financial regulation, including civil, criminal and regulatory matters.
His experiences include advising corporate and individual clients in regulatory investigations and enforcement actions. He has successfully helped clients in convincing regulators not to institute enforcement actions, or reaching favourable settlements; in other cases, where alternative dispute resolution is not possible, he has represented listed companies, directors and other individuals in regulatory investigations and proceedings brought by the Securities and Futures Commission, The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, etc.
He has experience in advising on independent internal investigations in respect of allegations of corporate misconduct, malfeasance or fraud, internal compliance policies and procedures relating to matters including disclosure of inside information, anti-money laundering, corporate governance, listing rules compliance, etc.
He has represented clients at various stages of civil and criminal litigation in matters including contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, investment disputes, monetary claims, criminal defence relating to securities and market misconduct etc., and attended trials and appeals in the Magistrates’ Courts, the High Court, the Court of Final Appeal, and the Securities & Futures Appeals Tribunal.
Before he read law at the University of Hong Kong from 2003 to 2006, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics/Computer Science and Industrial Management at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh and gained valuable working experience as an information technologist developing computer software at a California based software company in the United States. He completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws at the University of Hong Kong and joined the firm in 2007.
