Prior to Reed Smith, Kim spent four years as an attorney at Universal Music Group in both the Content Protection and Legal and Business Affairs Departments.
As a part of Universal's Business Affairs and Legal department, Kim structured and drafted a wide array of agreements such as recording agreements, producer agreements, side artist agreements, and joint venture agreements. She also acted as a legal liaison for production, brand partnerships, marketing and creative services business units.
Kim was also an integral part of negotiating and assisting with mobile application licenses, securing licenses for over 100 mobile applications, driving a massive revenue increase for Universal. She also led a team of representatives to combat Trademark and Copyright infringements across all social media platforms, and regulated Trademark infringement on artist merchandise.
Kim comes to Reed Smith with over ten years' experience in the music industry, previously working at Red Light Management and a music talent agency before law school. Her expansive experience has given her a deeper appreciation and understanding for developing an Artist and managing their success.
