Janine is an Associate in the Life Sciences Health Industry Group in the Washington, D.C. office. She counsels clients on complex regulatory and legislative issues affecting health care providers, investors, and life sciences companies, including Medicare and Medicaid coverage and reimbursement, contractual arrangements, fraud and abuse compliance (i.e., with anti-kickback and physician self-referral laws and the False Claims Act (FCA)), privacy and security compliance, as well as licensing and change of ownership matters with various state Boards of Pharmacy, the FDA, and other regulatory authorities.
Janine’s practice focuses on advising health care, life sciences, and private equity clients on regulatory requirements and business considerations in connection with health care transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, public offerings, investments in health care companies and financing transactions, as well as joint ventures and general contractual matters. Janine regularly assists clients with drafting agreements in compliance with health care law, advising on transaction structures with respect to certain health care laws, conducting health care regulatory due diligence, conducting change of ownership (CHOW) processes, and advising on related regulatory issues.
In addition to her work representing health care and life sciences companies and investors, Janine has devoted a substantial amount of time advocating for asylum and U.S. citizenship seekers, as well as to volunteering in reading and other enrichment programs with students in Washington D.C. public schools. She has also assisted the Innocence Project with review of applications for representation. Janine also held an internship with the Honorable Henry J. Boroff in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts while in law school.
