Vinny served in the U.S. Air Force for six years. As a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC), he operated forward with Army and Marine ground units, controlling and executing close air support. Between 2004 and 2007, Vinny served in Kandahar, Afghanistan (25th Infantry Division); Mosul, Iraq (1/72 Stryker Brigade) and Ramadi, Iraq (3rd Infantry Division). For his contribution to such operations, Vinny received the following Medals and Awards: Air Force Commendation Medal with Valor Device (2004), Army Commendation Medals (2004, 2005, and 2007) and Pacific Air Forces Tactical Air Command and Control Specialist of the Year (2005).
