Daniel Winterfeldt has been celebrated in the 2016 Financial Time’s leading LGBT+ Executives List, in collaboration with OUTstanding in Business. Daniel was joined by other LGBT leaders such as Dan Fitz, General Counsel, BT, Inga Beale, CEO, Lloyds of London and Stacy Friedman, General Counsel, J.P. Morgan.

Daniel was recognised for his work both as his firm, as well as with the InterLaw Diversity Forum which is an inter-organisational group for the LGBT networks in law firms and all personnel in the legal sector, including in-house counsel. Daniel founded the forum in 2008 and it now has over 1,500 members and supporters from more than 70 law firms and 40 corporates and financial institutions.

As part of the InterLaw Diversity Forum, Daniel created the Apollo Project and Purple Reign. The Apollo Project, in collaboration with the Financial Times (FT), is a cross-sector, global initiative that aims to give organisations the learning and practical tools to better embed more inclusive working practices and culture. Purple Reign is an artistic representation which celebrates LGBT and straight ally role models with multiple identities across all strands of diversity and inclusion through a photographic project (by celebrated photographer Thomas Knights) and short films (directed by director, writer, actor and trans activist Jake Graf). Purple Reign aims to raise the self-esteem and career aspirations of LGBT youth, students and professionals. Both the Apollo Project and Purple Reign were shortlisted for the 2016 FT Innovative Lawyer Awards for Innovation in People.

Daniel was also commended for his advocacy for Stonewall for the past 9 years where he regularly encourages organisations to participate in the Stonewall Work Equality Index (WEI) or to continue participating in order to improve their ranking, as well as his role supporting a range of charities such as Switchboard – LGBT+ Hotline, Terrence Higgins Trust, Elton John AIDS Foundation, the Albert Kennedy Trust (who recently made him a patron alongside Sir Ian McKellen) and others. Daniel has also consulted various organisations within the City of London to help tailor their D&I programmes to become more inclusive for LGBT employees as well as how to create meritocratic workplaces that are inclusive of all groups across the spectrum of diversity and inclusion.

The FT is one of the world’s leading business news and information organisations. OUTstanding is a professional membership organisation for global businesses who work directly with LGBT+ and ally leaders to promote inclusion in the workplace.
