Reed Smith today selected Ashley Jordan, a Los Angeles-based partner in its Insurance Recovery Group, to be the firm’s Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellow for 2022. Additionally, Jason Angelo, a Wilmington-based associate in the Financial Industry Group and Christian Castile, a Philadelphia-based associate in the Life Sciences and Healthcare Industry Group were named as the firm’s 2022 LCLD Pathfinders.

The LCLD Fellowship Program is an intensive, yearlong professional development program that mentors the legal industry’s diversity leaders of tomorrow. Designed for lawyers with eight to 15 years of experience, the program connects high-potential attorneys with leading general counsel and managing partners.

The LCLD Pathfinders Program is tailored for lawyers with three to five years’ experience. The program provides practical tools for developing and leveraging professional networks, leadership skills, and career development strategies.

Jordan is a highly regarded lawyer who provides liability and property claims counsel to several of the firm’s top clients. She has demonstrated a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through her work with WINRS, Reed Smith’s women’s initiative. She has served as a mentor for woman associates throughout the United States, including those in the firm’s Los Angeles, Pittsburgh and Miami offices. Her affinity for mentorship is exemplified in a program she created called “How to be a Super Associate,” designed to empower women mentors and educate those pursuing career advancement. Her commitment to DE&I and her role as a mentor have been recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal, which named her a 2021 “Woman of Influence.” She also was selected by the publication as a 2021 nominee for “Mentor of the Year” and “Champion of Woman.”

Angelo focuses his practice on commercial restructuring and bankruptcy and commercial litigation, advising clients in complex business reorganizations and insolvency matters, including debtors and debtors-in-possession, lenders, and secured creditors. Angelo also serves as associate co-chair for PRISM, Reed Smith’s LGBTQ+ business inclusion group, playing a critical role as an advocate for PRISM members in the firm, and as a force for inclusion outside of it.

Castile focuses his practice on commercial litigation matters, including products liability litigation and pharmaceutical litigation. He joined the firm after graduating from law school in 2018 and has been a passionate advocate for DE&I. A Latino LGBTQ+ lawyer, Castile is a member of the firm’s Racial Equity Action Plan Committee for the Philadelphia office, a member of the PRISM leadership team, and a mentor in the firm’s reciprocal mentoring program.

Reed Smith is among the original co-founders of the LCLD, which now includes more than 40 members comprising the general counsel of Fortune 500 corporations, along with the managing partners of the nation’s largest law firms.
