Rachel joined Reed Smith in March 2012 as a member of the Life Sciences Health Industry Group. For more than 20 years, Rachel has focused on the defense of product manufacturers, with a particular focus on pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, in product liability and mass tort litigation and in governmental actions arising from such litigation. Rachel has defended manufacturers in mass tort litigation involving diethylstilbestrol (“DES”), silicone breast implants, and second generation antipsychotics, and has defended individual lawsuits involving numerous other drugs and products. Most recently, Rachel has been a part of the national counsel team defending American Medical Systems in mass tort litigation alleging injuries from female pelvic mesh products.
