The California Minority Counsel Program (CMCP) has honored Reed Smith partner Deborah J. Broyles by inducting her into its “Diversity Leader Hall of Fame.”

Now in its second year, the annual CMCP Diversity Leader Hall of Fame Award recognizes visionaries who “saw the need, set the tone, and paved the way” to help move CMCP to a higher level. Broyles was selected both for her many contributions to promoting diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, and for her long-term, multifaceted involvement in the organization.

Broyles, a San Francisco-based partner in Reed Smith’s Labor & Employment Group and the firm’s Global Chair of Diversity & Inclusion, has served on the Board of Directors of CMCP for 10 years.

Additionally, Broyles is a longtime member of the National Bar Association and the Charles Houston Bar Association, and she is a lifetime member of the Black Women Lawyers Association of Northern California. Over the past two decades, she has also served in a variety of leadership roles for the California Association of Black Lawyers.

In the San Francisco Bay Area, Broyles is an active, longtime member of the Bar Association of San Francisco, the Bay Area African American Partners Group, and the San Francisco chapter of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. Furthermore, she serves on the Board of Directors of the City’s Positive Resource Center; and for six years, has served on the Board of Directors, and currently sits on the Advisory Board, of HealthRIGHT 360.

Broyles was inducted into the Diversity Leader Hall of Fame at the CMCP’s 26th Anniversary Recognition Luncheon held in Los Angeles October 23, 2015 during the CMCP 26th Annual Business Conference.

Earlier in October, Broyles was also honored by the State Bar of California with its prestigious 2015 Diversity Award.
