Reed Smith was one of 52 organizations recognized by the LCLD, which is comprised of more than 275 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who have dedicated themselves to creating a truly diverse U.S. legal profession. The LCLD’s action programs are designed to attract, inspire, and nurture the talent in society and within member organizations, thereby helping a new and more diverse generation of attorneys ascend to positions of leadership.
Reed Smith’s involvement in the LCLD includes nominating at least one Fellow, Pathfinders and 1L Scholars, sending a representative to the Fellows Alumni Leadership Symposium, active engagement in the Success in Law School Mentoring Program and sending representatives to the inaugural Diversity Professionals Summit.
“Our firm’s commitment to diversity does not end at our front door,” said John Iino, Reed Smith’s Global Chair, Diversity & Inclusion. “Rather, we truly believe that as the legal profession adopts a more inclusive position in terms of hiring, staffing, and management, it will be far stronger and more representative of our complex society. We humbly accept the LCLD’s commendation as a Top Performer and look forward to helping it further its mission in 2018.”
This recognition comes on the heels of Reed Smith’s managing partner Alexander “Sandy” Thomas signing the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ pledge last month, committing himself and the firm to advancing diversity and inclusion within the workplace.
