Rob is an associate in the Energy & Natural Resources Group. Following his previous military career, Rob trained and qualified at Reed Smith. Rob’s core areas of practice are commercial litigation and international arbitration in the context of the commodities and energy industries.
Rob has experience of dealing with a range of complex international and domestic disputes, from pre-action strategy through to trial and appeals, including high value civil fraud, claims against states, and breaches of commercial agreements. He has acted on international arbitrations under LCIA, GAFTA, FOSFA, ICA, UNCITRAL, CIArb and Ad Hoc rules, and litigation cases before the Commercial Court and Court of Appeal.
Rob has also advised on: transactional matters for the sale and purchase of a variety of commodities; international logistics and customs practices; and environmental regulatory issues.
Prior to qualifying into the Energy & Natural Resources Group, Rob also sat in the Financial Industry Group (focusing on banking and debt finance), Global Commercial Disputes (focusing on insurance recovery) and Corporate (conducting M&A work).
Rob is the co-ordinator for Reed Smith’s pro bono Disability Benefits Advocacy Project, assisting clients of a partner organisation to appeal the denial of their disability benefits. Rob has represented several disability benefit appellants at First-Tier Tribunal hearings. Rob is also a member of the Reed Smith Veterans business inclusion group.
