A founding partner of Reed Smith’s Houston office, Julie’s national practice focuses on the energy and life science sectors, for which she leads a broad spectrum of high-risk disputes, ranging from complex commercial litigation to significant product liability matters. Julie’s experience includes serving as lead counsel to exploration and production companies, oilfield service providers, and oilfield product manufacturers, as well as global medical device and pharmaceutical companies.

Julie's litigation practice takes her to courtrooms from coast-to-coast. She is relied on to lead complex matters and has tried multiple cases. She also has led successful appeals to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and Texas appellate courts. Julie has earned the trust of her clients and their senior management due to her extensive experience preparing company executives to give testimony, developing and cross-examining expert witnesses, and deposing and defending key witnesses.

Julie understands that a client's business should not be driven by its litigation. Her commitment to early risk analysis leads to cost-effective dispute resolution — inside or outside the courtroom. When avoiding trial is her client's priority, Julie is called upon to design and negotiate innovative strategies to resolve disputes and allow her clients to maximize their business objectives.

Beyond the courtroom, Julie acts as lead counsel assisting clients in evaluating the litigation risks associated with proposed acquisitions or product offerings. She relies on her vast experience litigating high-profile matters to assess and value potential litigation and regulatory exposure.

In addition to her legal practice, Julie is committed to empowering women in the Houston community. Julie serves on the Board of Directors for Girls Inc. of Greater Houston and the Women's Resource of Greater Houston, and on the Advisory Board for Dress for Success Houston. Julie is a graduate of Leadership Houston and is included in the Circle of Leaders for the Center for Women in Law. Julie is also a proud Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.
