Vice-Chair of the Financial Industry Group for EME

Nola is the Vice Chair of Reed Smith's Financial Industry Group ('FIG') in the EME. Worldwide, FIG comprises a group of over 215 partners, other lawyers and industry analysts, all of whom have a detailed, specialist understanding of the financial industry, from a business standpoint as well as a legal and regulatory one. Across the EME, FIG transactional, regulatory and litigation lawyers regularly represent our clients in the financial sector, focusing on the following key areas:

  • Commercial Restructuring & Bankruptcy/Insolvency
  • Financial Services Litigation
  • Investment Management & Funds
  • Financial Services Regulatory

Nola is qualified as a lawyer in England and Wales and in the Republic of Ireland. Nola qualified in Ireland in 1990 and joined Richards Butler in 1991. She was a partner in Richards Butler's Finance group for 11 years, and was appointed practice group leader of FIG in the EME in January 2011.

Nola has represented banks and corporations which she advised on all types of credit facilities (syndicated, L/C, guarantee issuance, etc) trade and receivables finance, property construction finance, structured finance and derivatives, acquisition finance, and debt restructuring. Nola's Banking clients included Royal Bank of Scotland Plc, the Civil Aviation Authority in the UK, Fortis, Credit Suisse, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank PJSC and Samba Financial Group. Much of her work involved representing international clients of the firm, in particular in the Middle East and the Far East. Nola is an active member of the firm's Middle East/North Africa group and she works closely with our offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Nola also regularly advised in relation to derivatives, including energy and property derivatives.
