Tim represents corporations, non-profits, and universities in disputes with their insurance companies, specializing in property and liability insurance coverage and bad faith litigation. His clients include the largest generic pharmaceutical company in the world and one of the largest home builders in the United States.
Substantively, Tim has broad experience in various areas of insurance law. He wrote the chapter on Personal Injury and Advertising Liability Coverage in a leading insurance treatise and has obtained insurance recovery for TCPA, FCRA, and other statutory liabilities under both general liability and professional liability insurance policies. Tim has represented corporations in insurance company insolvency proceedings, helping his clients to enforce their rights against both the insolvent insurance company and insurance guaranty associations. In addition, he regularly represents clients in workers’ compensation insurance coverage and premium disputes. He also has extensive experience with mortgage insurance and directors and officers insurance litigation.
Tim was one of eleven attorneys named by Chambers & Partners to its inaugural listing of the best Pennsylvania insurance lawyers in 2015. Chambers noted that he is “particularly adept at assisting policyholders with seeking coverage in the event of insurance company insolvency” and that his “thoroughness and collaborative approach are particular strengths, according to clients.” In its 2016 guide, Chambers called Tim “top notch” and noted that he was “deemed ‘knowledgeable and smart’ by his clientele.” Reed Smith was the only firm to receive a Band 1 ranking from Chambers & Partners in the 2015 and 2016 listings of the top Pennsylvania law firms for Insurance. In addition, Reed Smith was named by U.S. News & World Report as Law Firm of the Year in the area of Insurance Law in both 2014 and 2015.
