Margaret Campbell won the silver prize in the Champion of the Year – Mentoring/Sponsoring Programme category. Margaret is a partner at Reed Smith and the director of the firm’s Women’s Initiative Network for EMEA. Margaret supports women at all levels of their careers. From helping talented female lawyers reach partnership to empowering women to take that next step whether it be launching a project or searching for a secondment; Margaret uses her connections and influence to help women achieve the results they are after. One of Margaret’s greatest achievements is the introduction of a mentoring programme and the allocation of resources to support high potential women at the firm. The programme includes one-to-one mentoring, opportunities such as inter-office secondments and skill-building assignments, and coaching on leadership skills, self-advocacy and negotiation.

Brigid North took home the Editor’s Choice Award. Brigid is a partner in the firm’s real estate practice. Brigid has a particular interest in assisting women among the associate body who feel that combining partnership with family is not possible; Brigid uses her experience to assist the next generation of female lawyers coming through. She serves as a mentor to seven women and devotes valuable time and energy to having regular meetings, coffees and lunches to guide her mentees through their careers and the obstacles they face along the way.
