The Ally Executives category acknowledges the contribution of senior executives who are outspoken and unwavering in their support for LGBT+ people in the workplace. LGBT+ Future Leaders recognizes role models who work at all levels of an organization and make significant contributions to LGBT+ inclusion within their company.
All of the 2019 Role Models were nominated by peers and colleagues. Nominations were then reviewed by an independent judging panel. Nominees were scored on their impact on LGBT+ inclusion inside and outside the workplace, their business achievements, and the seniority and influence of their role.
“Reed Smith has long prioritized championing LGBT+ equality, equity and inclusion both within our firm and across our society at large. However, those efforts can only go as far as leaders within the firm are willing to push in support of change. We are very fortunate to have colleagues across the firm who are undaunted in their collective efforts to empower all of our people to be their authentic selves,” said John Iino, global chair, Diversity & Inclusion. “We’re exceptionally proud of Kyri, Alan, Casey, and Jonathan for their leadership and their dedication towards ensuring that our firm and our profession is welcoming, empowering and inclusive to members of the LGBT+ community.”
Founder & CEO of INvolve, Suki Sandhu OBE, says, “We’re delighted to be celebrating another fantastic group of people from across the globe who are collectively driving cultural change and creating workplaces where everyone can succeed. LGBT+ discrimination is still prevalent in a lot of the world’s biggest economies, but highlighting the work of successful role models changes people’s perceptions. They demonstrate that you can be successful and out at work, but most importantly inspire the next generation of LGBT+ leaders.”
