Aurélie is an Associate in the firm’s IP, Tech, & Data and Music & Entertainment groups in the New York office. Aurélie focuses her practice on both corporate and artist entertainment transactions. Aurélie takes a holistic approach to the issues her clients face and works diligently to satisfy the concerns of each company and artist she represents.
Prior to Reed Smith, Aurélie spent three and a half years at Universal Music Group as the Associate Director of Legal in the Content Protection Department. At Universal, Aurélie developed internal operational strategies that forced various stakeholders to comply with copyright and trademark laws, and to respect the rights of Universal Music Group which optimized the company’s profits annually. Aurélie also advised multiple departments, music labels and subsidiaries in matters involving business operations, risk management, comparative law, data privacy, and intellectual property protection and enforcement.
Aurélie has wide range experience with structuring, drafting, and negotiating merchandise, distribution, tech transaction, and exclusive recording agreements. In addition, Aurélie has extensive experience in applying pressure on various ISPs to bring them to the deal making table and has worked with Apple and Google to disable several applications. Aurélie also acted as support to Universal Music Group in-house litigation counsel in the RIAA-led music industry infringement case against Cox Communications that resulted in $ 1 billion dollars.
