Kathy is a member of the firm’s Life Sciences Health Industry Group, practicing in the area of product liability litigation. Her practice focuses on defending pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers in mass tort and multi-district litigations in state and federal court. Kathy is skilled in all aspects of litigation, including mass tort discovery, dispositive and evidentiary motion practice, and working with medical experts. Kathy is part of the Records & E-Discovery practice group and serves in a leadership capacity within Reed Smith’s Veterans Business Inclusion Group. She also maintains an active pro bono practice representing veterans through the National Veterans Legal Services Program, Lawyers Serving Warriors and representing unaccompanied children through Kids In Need of Defense (KIND).
Prior to joining Reed Smith, Kathy served as a Prosecutor for several years. At the Prosecutor’s Office, Kathy tried numerous bench and jury trials involving homicides, sexual assaults, and weapons offenses, among others. She has extensive experience arguing motions before the court and receiving favorable outcomes.
Kathy was appointed to the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Jury Selection for Civil and Criminal Trials for the 2018-2020, 2020-2022, and 2022-2023 terms, and she presently serves on the Executive Board of the Rutgers Alumnae Women’s Professional Network. Kathy is also committed to promoting diversity in the legal community and serves as Regional Deputy for the Hispanic National Bar Association and a member of the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey. Kathy is a recipient of the Corazon del (Heart of the) Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey Award for her years of service and commitment to the organization’s mission on advancing the Hispanic legal community.
