Session 1 | 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. CT: FERC and CFTC regulatory developments in 2021

2021 is proving to be a year of transition for the CFTC and FERC. Our panel of regulatory lawyers, which includes recent senior members of the two agencies, explains changes at these agencies and how they impact energy and derivatives markets.

Discussions will center around:

  • Climate initiatives;
  • Reliability and resilience development updates; and
  • CFTC’s investigation into the WTI negative price episode.

Landmark events such as Winter Storm Uri, Hurricane Ida, ransomware incidents, and wildfires, have triggered new requirements, and finding the right balance of risk and cost when attempting to comply is not a one-size-fits-all question.

We will also provide a helpful update on position limits, enforcement initiatives, policy developments, rulemakings, and key FERC docket and appellate court decisions.

After this roundup of the salient legal and regulatory developments in the energy and commodity industries, we will open the floor for a question and answer session.
