(Washington, DC. January 30, 2013) - A. Scott Bolden, Reed Smith's Office Managing Partner in the global law firm's Washington office, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, one of the most prestigious think tanks in the United States.

Founded in 1970 to encourage civic and political participation in the African American community, the Joint Center continues to support black leadership and other black policy makers by serving as a source of trusted information, innovations, and ideas on a broad range of issues.

Bolden, a graduate of Morehouse College and Howard University Law School, is a widely recognized legal expert on white collar crime in The District of Columbia, and has recently represented several high profile figures in Washington and around the country. He is also known for his community involvement, political acumen and pro bono efforts in the city. Mr. Bolden has been singled out by publications like The Washington Post for his legal prowess and is a frequent guest of television talk shows commenting on the law. He was the 2012 recipient of The Chamber of Commerce "Chambers Choice Award" for his business leadership in the City.

Bolden will serve a three year term on the Board of Directors.
