The pace of economic espionage and trade secret theft against U.S. corporations is accelerating. A recent report from the federal government found that "there appears to be multiple vectors of attack for persons and governments seeking to steal trade secrets. Foreign competitors of U.S. corporations, some with ties to foreign governments, have increased their efforts to steal trade secret information through the recruitment of current or former employees." Companies are searching for effective legal remedies.

This seminar, presented by a former senior federal prosecutor, a highly experienced intellectual property litigator and an FBI agent from the FBI’s San Francisco Field Division specializing in theft of trade secret investigations offers a multi-disciplinary strategy to combat this problem. The program will cover:

  • How the federal criminal laws can be used to prevent the exploitation of stolen trade secrets, and can be used to recover money and obtain injunctive relief
  • The ways in which the criminal laws can complement traditional uniform trade secret civil remedies
  • Effective techniques for initiating federal criminal investigations
  • How to use International Trade Commission remedies to block imports containing your stolen secrets
  • Working with the FBI
  • Referring cases to the FBI
  • Investigation and evidentiary Issues
  • Insurance coverage issues

This seminar will be detailed and will focus on a multidisciplinary strategy, providing a new approach for corporations in combatting existential threats to their businesses.
