(August 16, 2012) – Reed Smith LLP, a leading international law firm, earned two rankings at the top level in the inaugural issue of Life Science Guide. Eight lawyers in the firm were selected by the publication as "Life Science Stars."

Life Science Guide is the newest publication of Legal Media Group (LMG), a part of Euromoney Institutional Investor, PLC.

"This is a great honor for the members of our Life Science Health Industry Group and the individual LSHI attorneys singled out for recognition by LMG in the first edition of its new publication," said Carol C. Loepere, Chair of Reed Smith’s Life Sciences Health Industry Group. "This recognition highlights the continuing strengths and capabilities of our firm in this rapidly expanding sector of the global economy."

Reed Smith earned the rating of "Highly Recommended" in the pricing and reimbursement category within life science regulation, as well as in products liability within non-IP litigation and enforcement.

Washington, D.C. partners Gordon Schatz and Joseph W. Metro were named "Stars" in the regulatory category. Mr. Schatz, who is the integration partner for the firm’s Beijing and Shanghai offices, was noted for his work in both Washington, D.C., and China on behalf of the firm’s life science clients.

Included among the non-IP litigation and enforcement life science stars were Reed Smith’s Los Angeles partners Michael K. Brown, Mildred Segura and David Stanley; Philadelphia partner Michael T. Scott, and Washington, D.C., partner Eric Dubelier. Princeton partner Diane M. Frenier was named a star in the life sciences financial/transactional category.

Reed Smith’s interdisciplinary Life Sciences Health Industry (LSHI) Group comprises more than 250 professionals across numerous practice areas working with clients who help save patients’ lives and preserve their health, whether through biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, life sciences or delivering health care. From product development and management requirements to regulatory demand and litigation risks, Reed Smith’s LSHI Group assists clients in every aspect of their businesses.
