In response to the global needs of its clients, Reed Smith is pleased to announce the next installment of its 2009 "Doing Business Globally" teleseminar programs, a series focused on issues that companies should understand about doing business in the global marketplace. The experience of the attorneys in our 23 offices in the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East positions us to assist in helping you to navigate the global landscape.

Our next teleseminar will focus on "Global Insider Trading Issues." Regulators around the world are stepping up enforcement of insider trading laws. Those caught engaging in insider trading are receiving multi-million-dollar fines and, in some cases, criminal prosecution. Companies, whether global or domestic, are being fined for not having systems in place to prevent the abuse from happening.

Our speakers will provide updates on the latest insider trading issues, including:

  • Enforcement trends from U.S., European and Asia-Pacific Securities Markets
  • Strategies for compliance with global regulations
  • Preparing for investigations

Amy J. Greer is a partner in Reed Smith's New York office. Before joining Reed Smith, Amy served as Regional Trial Counsel in the Philadelphia Regional Office of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. While at the SEC, Amy handled a broad range of enforcement cases – including insider trading – involving broker-dealers, hedge funds, and investment advisers, as well as corporate officers and directors.

Simon Hart is a partner in Reed Smith's London office, practicing in the area of investment banking, financial services and regulatory disputes. Simon has wide experience in regulatory enforcement investigations and proceedings in both a domestic and multi-jurisdictional context, including insider trading actions. In addition, he has acted in a number of capital-markets disputes involving derivatives and structured products, representing European banks, accountants and offshore investment funds.

David Morrison is a partner in Reed Smith's Hong Kong office, practicing in corporate, regulatory and securities litigation, and related public and constitutional law issues. In addition, David handles contentious takeovers and mergers, board room and shareholder disputes, fraud and white collar crime, and defamation.
