Dimitris Assimakis is a partner in the Global Corporate Group in Athens. He focuses on power and gas, energy infrastructure, renewable energy and clean technologies, and he advises clients on regulatory matters, M&A, project financing, and capital markets and privatisation transactions.
With more than 25 years of experience, Dimitris has acted for Greek and international companies, both private and state-owned, as well as financial institutions that invest in or lend to companies operating in Greece.
Dimitris studied law at the University of Athens and obtained a master's degree (LLM) from the Free University of Brussels (Vrije Universiteit Brussel). He qualified as a lawyer in 1995 and is registered with the Athens Bar Association.
Previously, Dimitris worked for the European Parliament and the European Commission, as well as for a leading Greek legal practice and an international law firm in Athens. He is a member of the Athens Bar Association, the Greek Energy Lawyers Association, the Hellenic Wind Energy Association (ELETAEN) and a support member of Hellenic Association of Photovoltaic Companies (HELAPCO).
Dimitris is consistently listed as one of the leading energy lawyers in Greece by major legal directories (Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500, IFLR 1000).
Chambers Europe 2024 ranks Dimitris Band 1 for Energy for the 14th consecutive year, stating in its review “Widely renowned lawyer Dimitris Assimakis provides expert handling of M&A and project finance transactions, in addition to assisting with regulatory matters”.

He is fluent in Greek and English, has a good knowledge of French and has a basic knowledge of Italian.
