In response to the global needs of clients, Reed Smith is pleased to continue its 2009 “Looking Into the Crystal Ball: Food Law Topics Under the New Administration” teleseminar series, a collection of programs focusing on issues impacting the food industry and how the new administration could affect the marketplace and business operations.

Reed Smith’s multidisciplinary Food Industry Team, with lawyers practicing in offices throughout the United States, Europe and Asia, will help your food or beverage company identify obstacles and opportunities in the ever-changing legal, regulatory and economic landscape.

Our next teleseminar, “Part IV: Labor & Employment,” will focus on a number of labor and employment issues affecting the food industry.

This session will cover:

  • ADA Title III Litigation – Preventing and Defending Accessibility Suits
  • Immigration
  • Employee Free Choice Act
  • Recent Wage and Hour Developments (Misclassification, Donning & Doffing)
  • Other recent Federal and State Legislation and Case Law affecting the Food Industry

Our speakers include: Sherri Affrunti, a partner in Reed Smith’s Princeton office and a member of the Labor & Employment Group. Sherri focuses her practice on labor and employment litigation and counseling for the financial services, food services, insurance, life sciences, waste management, manufacturing and retail industries. John DiNome resides in the Philadelphia office and is also a member of the Labor & Employment Group. John represents a variety of regional and national employers in collective bargaining, labor arbitration, and employment-related litigation, and he is also labor counsel for a number of municipalities, representing them in their dealings with both union and non-union employees. Irene Recio, counsel in the firm's Washington, D.C. office, is a member of the Labor & Employment Group. She focuses her practice on immigration law, with an emphasis on employment issues and consular processing. Shannon McClure, an associate in Reed Smith's Philadelphia office, is a member of the Commercial Litigation Group. She frequently participates in the litigation of employment-related matters before state and federal courts, and has experience defending several wage and hour class action cases (including donning and doffing, and misclassification class actions), numerous employment discrimination suits, and high-stakes restrictive covenant disputes.

Stay tuned for our final teleseminar:  Part V: IP & Brand Protection – March 11, 2009
