Minas is a counsel in the Global Corporate Group in Athens.
His main areas of practice are energy and utilities (power, oil and gas), infrastructure projects, renewable energies, natural resources and environment. Minas advises on electricity, oil and gas sector regulatory matters; privatizations; concessions and infrastructure and energy project development; procurement and construction; and power purchase and gas supply agreements. He also advises on M&A transactions, project financings and capital markets deals in the energy sector.
In the last 15 years, Minas has acted for Greek and international companies and utilities, both private and state-owned, as well as financial institutions and funds that lend to or invest in companies operating in Greece.
Minas joined Reed Smith in January 2021. Before joining our Athens office, Minas worked as in-house counsel to a major shipbuilding group of companies in Elefsis, Attica, as well as in the energy practices of a leading Greek law firm and another international law firm in Athens.
He is fluent in Greek and English, and reads French proficiently.
Minas studied law at the University of Athens (LLB) and, intrigued by the pivotal role of energy in our lives and the economy, obtained a master’s degree (LLM) in EU Energy and Natural Resources Law and Policy from the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) of the University of Dundee, in Scotland.
Minas has been a member of the Athens Bar since September 2001 and has published a number of legal articles and client briefings on topics including conventional and renewable energy regulation, oil and gas regulation, mining regulation, project finance, privatizations, public-private partnerships and strategic investments in Greece.
Chambers Europe 2022 ranks Minas Band 3 for Energy with clients praising him for his responsiveness and negotiation skills, with one client highlighting his "technical regulatory competence," "robust market understanding" and "dedication to the task."
Legal 500 EMEA 2022 has listed Minas as a Rising Star for Energy in Greece.
