With almost two decades experience, Siewert’s practice is focused on German tax law, in particular on domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, group structuring and real estate investments.
She has significant experience in structuring funds and debt instruments as well as in tax matters relating to distressed transactions and restructurings.
Siewert has been recognised in The Best Lawyers in Germany, Tax Law, since 2020. She joins from McDermott Will & Emery where she was partner.
Mike Young, practice group leader of Reed Smith’s Global Corporate Group, commented: “We are very pleased to welcome a lawyer of Nina’s calibre to the firm. Germany is an important market for us and our clients, and we continue to invest in top tier talent to enhance our offering in the region.”
Octávio de Sousa, Reed Smith’s Frankfurt office managing partner, added: “Nina is a very widely recognised tax specialist in Germany. Her practice has strong synergies with our corporate and banking teams and we are very much looking forward to having her on board.”
Siewert said: “Reed Smith is a firm with a tremendous reputation. It has an enviable global platform and is well known for its collaborative approach to client service delivery. The firm has recently made several noteworthy hires across its German offices and so it’s an exciting time to be joining. I look forward to working with the team and helping to further grow the practice.”
This latest hire is the fifth senior lawyer to join Reed Smith in Germany in the last 12 months, following the arrival of partner Dr. Oliver Hahnelt in September, partner Germar Enders in July, and partner Dr. Nikolaus von Jacobs and senior counsel Christian von Sydow in May.
