PRINCETON – Global law firm Reed Smith has appointed Nicholas Valvanis as the new office managing partner of its Princeton office. A member of the firm’s Financial Industry Group, Valvanis succeeds Diane Bettino, who has led the office since 2014. Bettino will continue her legal practice advising financial services clients and serving on the firm’s Executive Committee, while remaining a valuable resource to the Princeton office’s leadership team.

“Nick has been with the firm for 20 years and has earned the trust of clients and colleagues through his strong commitment to exceptional service and his passion for mentoring and talent development,” said Julie Hardin, Managing Partner, Americas.“ His collaborative leadership style and client-first mindset will serve the Princeton office well.”

Valvanis joined Reed Smith in 2005 and has built a nationwide practice advising multinational banks in complex lending transactions, giving him a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities clients face in today’s competitive environment.

“I’m thrilled to assume this role and look forward to building on Diane’s outstanding achievements,” said Valvanis. “Our Princeton lawyers understand the needs of the region’s most dynamic industries—from life sciences and medical devices to renewable energy, transportation, and financial services. Together, we will continue delivering sophisticated business and legal solutions.”

Valvanis earned his J.D. from Rutgers University and his B.A. from the College of William & Mary.
