Despite ongoing political headwinds, international arbitration in Mexico continues to move in a positive direction. Mexico maintains what can be described as a functional and up to the times international arbitration legal framework. Although international arbitration in Mexico has continued to evolve, it remains largely premised on the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration (UNCITRAL Model Law). Mexico has also entered into a number of international treaties and conventions favourable to arbitration and courts with a judicial body that has historically been supportive of international arbitration, albeit with some limited exceptions.
