Global CBPR Forum launches certification for cross-border data transfers

The Global Cross-Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) Forum has officially launched its certification system, providing a robust framework for secure and compliant cross-border data transfers. The CBPR certification, now open to organisations worldwide, establishes unified privacy standards that facilitate international business operations while safeguarding personal data. This move addresses the growing complexity of data privacy regulations and aims to reduce friction for businesses operating across multiple jurisdictions.

The new global certification, which covers the U.S., Australia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Canada, the Philippines, Taiwan and Mexico, will take effect on 2 June and is expected to enhance trust among consumers and business partners alike, as organisations can now demonstrate adherence to rigorous privacy standards. For multinationals, this development simplifies regulatory compliance, reduces legal risks, and supports seamless data-driven operations across borders.
