“Rebecca’s enforcement background with the SEC makes her an exceptional addition to our team as we continue to strengthen the firm’s depth and capabilities in the Texas market,” said Dallas Office Managing Partner Omar Alaniz. “We have recently been accelerating our efforts to make strategic additions in Texas to support our clients. Just last week, we added Angela Hagerman as a partner in the firm’s corporate practice in Houston.
Fike previously served as senior counsel in the SEC’s Division of Enforcement, where she led high-impact investigations, coordinated with parallel civil and criminal authorities, and received multiple awards for excellence in investigative work.
“Rebecca brings a decade of experience navigating the SEC landscape and a sophisticated understanding of how investigations unfold. She is exactly the kind of trusted counsel companies need when facing government scrutiny — someone who can manage the process end to end, uncover the facts, and help clients avoid surprises,” said Michael J. Lowell, who chairs Reed Smith’s Global Regulatory Enforcement Group. “Her arrival strengthens our ability to guide clients through their most sensitive matters with the views of an SEC insider.”
Fike joins Reed Smith from Vinson & Elkins, where she was a partner. She focuses on SEC defense and compliance advisory, internal investigations and strategic counsel on complex regulatory matters. She provides clients with practical guidance informed by her government and private practice experience. She has advised boards and C-suites at public and private companies on navigating enforcement risk, developing compliance frameworks and responding to high-stakes regulatory scrutiny. Her experience includes handling sensitive internal investigations — often in whistleblower or auditor-driven scenarios — as well as proactive compliance counseling to help clients avoid regulatory inquiries altogether.
Fike will also provide support to the capital markets and corporate governance teams, assisting with public and private securities offerings and complex commercial transactions, and advising clients and their boards of directors on corporate governance matters. She is a valuable resource on crypto and digital asset matters and can advise on regulatory and enforcement issues affecting blockchain-based platforms, cryptocurrencies and other digital assets.
“Reed Smith offers the breadth and global reach I was seeking — a platform that touches more industries, with a broader network of potential clients I can help and work with,” said Fike. “I’m excited to collaborate with lawyers across the firm and look forward to contributing not only through my practice, but also through mentoring and recruiting the next generation of legal talent.”
Joining Fike in the move to Reed Smith is associate Carolyn Rietig. Fike and Rietig worked together at Vinson & Elkins for two years, focusing on government investigations and white-collar defense.
Fike holds a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and a B.A. in Plan II Honors, a rigorous liberal arts program, from the University of Texas at Austin.
Rietig graduated from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, magna cum laude, and received her B.A. from Texas Christian University in Economics, magna cum laude.
