Halbreich, a former practice group leader of the firm’s leading Insurance Recovery Group, has handled coverage claims for everything from securities fraud, fiduciary liability, mortgages, asbestos and other toxic torts, catastrophic injury, environmental/hazardous waste clean-up, product liability, COVID-19 and other first-party property business interruption disputes, to professional malpractice, construction defect, earthquake damage, wrongful termination, and patent infringement, recovering many billions of dollars.

For example, Halbreich was lead counsel for aircraft leasing companies whose aircraft were confiscated after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The claims arose under war risk and all risk aviation insurance policies that had almost never previously been litigated. Almost $1.5 billion of aircraft were at issue. Dozens of insurance carriers were involved in the litigation, which resulted in an incredibly favorable series of rulings for the policyholders. The cases settled following these rulings.
