Reed Smith partner Paulette Mastin awarded CBE for services to diversity in legal services

LONDON – International law firm Reed Smith is proud to announce that partner Paulette Mastin has been named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the King’s Birthday Honours for her outstanding services to diversity in the legal profession.

Mastin, a capital markets lawyer, has played a leading role in advancing a more inclusive legal profession. She founded and led the City branch of the Black Solicitors Network (BSN) from 2008 until 2023 and served as chair of BSN nationally and as a council member of the Law Society for five years, during which she contributed to the career advancement and visibility of Black legal professionals and drove meaningful change in the industry.

The King’s Birthday Honours list celebrates individuals who have made exceptional contributions to British society. More than 1,000 people were recognised this year, with a particular emphasis on those who have dedicated their time to public service.

Commenting on her award, Mastin said: “I am deeply honoured and humbled to receive this recognition. Promoting inclusion in the legal profession has long been and continues to be a personal and professional commitment.”

Mastin will receive her CBE at a royal investiture ceremony, to be held at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle or the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

The full list of honourees can be found on the UK Government’s website.
