Reed Smith welcomes former Interscope Records legal exec to Entertainment & Media Industry Group

NEW YORK – Global law firm Reed Smith is pleased to announce that Nneka Witter has rejoined the firm as counsel in its renowned Entertainment & Media Industry Group. Witter, who will be based in the New York office and later transition to the firm’s new Atlanta office, brings a wealth of experience from her most recent role as vice president of business and legal affairs at Interscope Records.

Nneka Witter returns to Reed Smith as counsel in New York and Atlanta

“During her previous tenure as an associate in our New York office, Nneka demonstrated exceptional skills as a music lawyer,” said Stephen Sessa, co-chair of the Entertainment & Media Industry Group. “Having worked on both the artist side and the label side gives her an advantage. We know her work ethic, commitment, and what she brings to the team. She will be an asset to our clients and the firm, allowing us to expand our music capabilities in the vibrant Atlanta market,” Sessa said.

Witter will initially be based in the New York office and will transition to the Atlanta office upon completing her admission to the Georgia Bar. The Atlanta team has recently expanded to include additional finance, employment and white-collar lawyers Nicholas Roecker, David Long-Daniels, Scott Marrah and Adria Perez.

“Nneka’s arrival is another significant milestone for our growing Atlanta office. The entertainment industry is a thriving part of the Atlanta market, and we are delighted to add Nneka’s music and film capabilities to our Atlanta offering. We will continue to look to Atlanta to add talent to our leading entertainment and media practice,” said Julie Hardin, Reed Smith Managing Partner, Americas.

At Interscope Records, Witter advised on a wide range of legal and commercial matters tied to music, film and artist-branded media, with a focus on intellectual property protection and content exploitation. Her prior in-house roles at Twitter and YouTube further distinguish her background, where she counseled on complex content licensing, digital distribution and media partnerships.

“I’m proud to be returning to Reed Smith,” said Witter. “It’s an exciting time to rejoin the firm – especially as we grow our entertainment capabilities in Atlanta. I look forward to working with our clients across the globe and helping shape the next chapter of the firm’s media and entertainment practice.”

Witter holds a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and a B.A. from Howard University.
