Michael P. Sandusky

Counsel

Michael is a member of the Business and Finance-Real Estate practice group. Michael's practice includes representing (i) real estate investment trusts (REITS) (primarily healthcare REITs) in portfolio acquisitions, dispositions, leasing and finance matters, (ii) financial institutions involved in real estate financing, (iii) real estate developers and (iv) investors. Michael often serves as a real estate advisor for several of the firm’s top corporate clients. Most recently, Michael has counselled real estate clients on a variety of asset platforms, including student housing, industrial, commercial, mixed-use, residential, hospitals, medical office buildings and senior assisted living, independent living and memory care facilities. Michael also maintains a large pro bono practice which includes volunteering with the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic, and other issues such as civil rights, immigration and asylum, fair housing, and anti-gentrification.

Experience

Representative matters

Represented a national senior housing REIT in completing the final closing of a $485 million transaction involving the acquisition of 25 senior housing facilities in Michigan. All the facilities are now owned through a RIDEA (REIT) structure in joint venture with its new operator partner.
