Samantha’s practice focuses on the investment management industry, advising both investment managers and institutional investors in private fund matters. She counsels universities, public and private pension plans, hospitals, fund-of-funds, and family offices with respect to their investments in private funds. Samantha also advises fund sponsors on the structuring, capital raising, compliance, and ongoing operations of private funds.
Prior to Reed Smith, Samantha was an investment funds associate at large New York and Washington, D.C. law firms and most recently was the Senior Investment Funds & Compliance Counsel at the District of Columbia Retirement Board, D.C’s $13+ billion public pension system, where she led the investments legal and compliance function. Samantha received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and her B.A. from the University of Florida.
