The Ad Hoc Committee specifically requested that Reed Smith examine the entire case record and any other relevant information regarding Mr. Glossip’s case and conviction.
In its request to Reed Smith, the Committee stated they understand that “the investigation is independent and that you have no preconceived opinions regarding the Glossip Case or the outcome of your investigation.”
Committee Leader, Oklahoma state Representative Kevin McDugle, announced Reed Smith’s appointment at a press conference earlier today. At the press conference, Reed Smith confirmed that it has assembled a 20-lawyer team to conduct the independent investigation on a pro bono basis.
“Reed Smith is committed to conducting an independent, thorough, and timely review of Mr. Glossip’s case,” said Reed Smith partner Stan Perry, a member of the investigative team.
The Committee also granted authority to Reed Smith to seek assistance from professionals and other individuals outside the firm in completing the review.
“Reed Smith asks for full transparency from both the State and Mr. Glossip’s defense counsel,” Perry said. “And we hope that all parties involved will provide us with any and all related information in a timely manner.”
