Paul’s practice focuses on international trade and commodities. He acts in both transactional matters and disputes relating to the sale, transportation and financing of commodities, including crude oil and petroleum products, LNG, iron ore, coal, metals and agricultural commodities. He advises commodity trading houses, oil majors, miners, banks and industry groups in the sector.
Paul’s recent experience includes negotiating high value, long-term contracts for the supply of crude oil and iron ore.
He also regularly advises clients in litigation and arbitration arising out of international trade-related disputes.
Paul has been legal adviser to a number of industry-led initiatives to develop standardised contract terms in the commodities sector, including for crude oil, petroleum products and iron ore. He has also assisted in a number of clients to develop and optimise the terms on which they market and trade commodities globally.
