Between 2008 and 2009 Employment Tribunal claims rose by a massive 56% from 151,000 to 236,100. Many businesses believe that the pendulum has swung too far in favour of employees and that the Tribunal system allows unmeritorious claims to be brought at great expense to employers.

The Government has published a consultation paper on Employment Tribunal reform. The paper makes a number of proposals, including new fines for employers who lose a claim brought against them and costs penalties on Claimants who unreasonably refuse an offer of settlement.

If you would like to have a say on the proposals or find out more about what they will mean for you, please come along to our round table seminar. Following this event, we will submit a response to the Government's consultation which will include the conclusions reached at this session.
