Gretchen supports the firmwide Business & Finance and Commercial Litigation Departments. She focuses on transactional matters including drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial business, retail, and real estate contracts, conducting diligence reviews, reviewing private equity matters, and assisting in other business transactions.
She has been seconded to the tax department and the legal department of international Fortune 500 companies and a major Pittsburgh educational institution. In addition she supported an internal investigation of a Fortune 500 company in its suit against the government, the sale of a local software company and drafted motions concerning contract matters.
Gretchen has actively practiced in both Pennsylvania and Washington State. While practicing in Washington, she represented both large and small real estate developers, coffee companies and smaller corporate clients in forming business entities, corporate transactions and sale of businesses. Before joining Reed Smith, Gretchen’s practice involved both transactional support of small businesses as well as litigation work which required her to regularly appear at motions and at trial. Through this wide-ranging legal practice, Through this wide-ranging legal practice, Gretchen has experience in drafting business documents, such as corporate governance documents; corporate, limited partnership, limited liability, and joint venture agreements; 501(c)(3) filings; real estate documents such as leases, subleases, assignments, promissory notes, real estate purchase agreements, deeds, condominium agreements, real estate finance documents; estate planning documents; and litigation pleadings, discovery, and releases.
In addition, Gretchen represented clients in disabled person and adoption proceedings.
