Terry Prempeh is an associate based in Reed Smith’s London office. He joined Reed Smith as a trainee in 2020. He focuses his practice on contentious and non-contentious energy and commodity matters and finance.
Terry has experience working with national oil companies, global commodity traders, mining companies, banks, and non-bank lenders, including funds.
On the finance side, Terry’s transactional experience includes assisting clients with drafting and negotiating facility and security documentation and advising on other trade and receivables finance products. He also advises clients on sports financings, including loan and receivables purchase facilities in relation to transfers of football players as well as loan facilities to football clubs secured by media payments.
On the commodities side, Terry has experience with respect to the trading, financing and transportation of physical commodities and undertook a secondment at the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company between October 2023 and April 2024 where he worked on the marketing, sale and trading of commodities.
On the contentious side, Terry has experience representing clients in the English High Court and in arbitration relating to the commodities and energy industries.
Terry previously undertook a secondment to the BBC where he mainly worked on commercial contracts with international broadcasting partners.
In addition, Terry is actively involved in many of the firm’s wider initiatives, such as being a mentor to students through Reed Smith’s Responsible Business partnerships and speaking on various panels aimed at increasing the accessibility of the legal profession for students. Terry is also a member of the Kids in Need of Defense immigration law pro bono partnership, which represents children facing immigration issues.
