On 2 March 2023, Yves Melin and Isabel Fressynet (Brussels) hosted the webinar, “Carbon Tax: Moroccan Companies Must Prepare Now”, organized by the Moroccan Federation of Metallurgical, Mechanical and Electromechanical Industries (FIMME). Our two lawyers discussed the importance of Moroccan companies taking action to reduce carbon emissions and complying with upcoming regulations.

The webinar was highly successful and attended by a large range of Moroccan stakeholders, including business leaders, policymakers, and NGOs concerned with the taxation of greenhouse gas emissions. Over 200 attendants took part in the webinar, and the participants shared their perspectives on measures aimed at combating climate change and the impact they will have on Moroccan businesses.
The EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, more commonly known as “CBAM”, will come into effect on 1 October 2023, and payment of border rights will apply from 1 January 2026.
